Lasik Evaluation

A Lasik evaluation is required for anyone interested in Lasik eye surgery. There are several things that are evaluated:

Many people start out by taking an online Lasik evaluation, which consists of a questionairre to gather information about vision needs and past history. This evaluation looks to see whether you are eligible to be a candidate for vision correction surgery, and whether or not there are specific risks associated with your personal situation.

After taking the online Lasik evaluation, it is necessary to visit a doctor and have your eyes examined. The doctor assesses your pupil shape and measurement, vision capabilities, and other aspects of the eye that are affected by the surgery.

Lasik doctors also perform a corneal topography. This process analyzes the shape and thickness of the cornea, and also looks for any irregularities that may cause complications during the surgery. Corneal topography is the most important part of the Lasik evaluation, because it analyzes how much of the cornea tissue needs to be removed during the surgery.

Other Lasik evaluation processes include an eye analysis to test the tear function. This is also an important evaluation, because dry eyes may slow down the process of healing. If a person has dry eyes, extra precautions will need to be taken to ensure proper healing after the surgery is complete.
